  • Adds $.06 of tax per gallon of gas as of July 1, 2025. Increasing state motor fuel tax from $.49 to $.55 per gallon. 
  • Increases gas tax 2% annually starting July 1, 2026.
  • Increases EV registration renewal fees from $100-$150 annually. Increases additional initial registration fees from $50 to $75.

Plastic Bottle Deposit Tax (On House Floor 4/8/2025)

HB1607

  • There will be a $.10 deposit fee on plastic bottles that is refundable upon returning the bottle. (Supporters of the Bill pinky promise it's not a refundable TAX, but rather a refundable "deposit system". **Cue the suspicious Weiner dog meme.**)

  • Will remove current property tax cap increase set to 1% annually and allow for the annual tax raise to be based on inflation and population growth -or- a minimum of 1%, whichever, is greater.

Payroll Excise Tax

SB5796

  • Employers to pay 5% Excise Tax on all employee wages that exceed Social Security wage threshold.
    (Ex: Social Security Threshold is $176,000. Any wages an employee makes over $176,000 are subject to the 5% tax. So if an employee makes $200,000 a year, the employer will have to pay a 5% tax on the $24,000 over the threshold. Resulting in the employer paying an additional $1,200 in taxes.

Wealth Tax

HB1319

  • 1% of annual tax on stocks, bonds other intangible assets that exceed $100 million. Asset valuation will be based on fair market value as of Dec 31st of each year.

Increase Cost of Hunting and Fishing Licenses

  • Will increase cost of most hunting and fishing licenses by 38%.
  • Big Game License incease from $85 to $117.30
  • Freshwater Fishing License increase from $25 to $34.50
  • Introduced discounted rates for seniors 70+ offering an estimated 66% reduction from the standard license fee. 
  • Effective July 1, 2025 if enacted.
