I know a lot of folks absolutely cannot stand euphemisms being used on serious subjects.... and I agree. Since I started posting on TikTok last year I have realized that I have adjusted the way that I speak so that the algorithms do not throttle my content.
I am also often asked what many of these euphemisms are even referring to. I've had a couple folks ask me to create them a spreadsheet. Lol. So I thought I'd take a moment to share some of the most common euphemisms that myself and others use in attempts to avoid having our content throttled.
I remember the first time I ever noticed censorship online. It was in 2020 anytime I would try to post about Covid or the vaccine and everyone had to use the bat and needle emojis to avoid being totally shadow banned.
Abortion is often called "AB" on sites like TikTok where the algorithm is reported to flag the word abortion.
"Rugs" is often used in place of the word, drugs. Fentanyl is referred to as "fairy dust" and "vitamin f".
I personally use the word "Muckduck" instead of murder or kill. (It's an office reference.) However, super common replacements for these words are: Unalive, Yeet Off, Log Off, Clock
Instead of saying Gang or Mob, many people (including myself) spell out the words instead: g-a-n-g , m-o-b.
Cartels = Telcars, MS13 = 13MS, Tren De Aragua = Tren DA
Rape = Grape
Sexual Assault = SA
Nazi = Yahtzee
Terrorist Organization = "T"Org
Retard = Hard R, R-Word, Tarty
CUNT = See You Next Thursday
Thug = "T"-hug
I'm not going to go into all of the common slang and euphemisms on the internet. But, for those who watch my content and don't understand some of my references maybe this will help
